ACTC to Merge With Ozark Campus in 2011

The Area Career and Technical Center located on the Russellville High School campus will soon come under the direction of Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus following action by the Arkansas Tech Board of Trustees on Thursday. According to a memorandum of understanding approved by the board, the Russellville School District will transfer fiscal and administrative oversight of the Area Career and Technical Center (ACTC) to Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus on July 1, 2011. The center will continue to operate on the Russellville High School campus. Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus will lease the ACTC property and inventory from the Russellville School District. The memorandum of understanding states that “it is the intent of the parties that there will be a continuous seven-year relationship for the initial term and option terms of the agreement.” As a result of the transfer, Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus will be able to offer college credit for technical instruction delivered at ACTC to high school students from Russellville, Dardanelle, Atkins, Pottsville, Lamar, Clarksville, Hector, Two Rivers, Western Yell County, Dover and Danville. “This transfer and merger is in line with an economic development vision identified by the Governor’s Task Force for the 21st Century Economy,” wrote Dr. Jo Alice Blondin, chancellor of Arkansas Tech-Ozark Campus, in a memorandum.
