Freshmen Hear from Tech President

Freshman learned more about what is expected of them as college students today as they continued participating in orientation activities.

This morning the students gathered for a class photo in the Doc Bryan Student Services Building Courtyard.  The photo will be displayed in the building and will also be available for download.

Following the photo, the students moved to Tucker Coliseum to hear from Tech President Dr. Robert C. Brown.  Brown told the freshmen he hopes they’ll get involved in campus activities and that college is “one of the best times of your life.”  He also encouraged the students to persist and work hard to obtain a degree, as they would reap life-long benefits from doing so.

Following Dr. Brown’s welcome, Student Government Association President Roger Norman  welcomed students to Tech.  Norman, a senior from Benton, encouraged students to experience Tech to its fullest by getting involved in some of the numerous student organizations available.

Today students will also meet with their Bridge to Excellence mentor. Bridge to Excellence is first-year mentoring program that helps new students navigate through their first college semester.  See photos from the welcome.
