Numerous Arkansas Tech University alumni and friends met at Oaklawn Racing and Gaming in Hot Springs over the weekend for the third annual “Day at the Races.”
The event marked the third time Arkansas Tech alumni have gathered for an afternoon of racing and visiting with other Arkansas Tech graduates.
As part of the day’s festivities, the fifth race was named the Arkansas Tech Alumni Classic in honor of the Arkansas Tech fans attending the races at Oaklawn.
Angela Bonds, director of alumni relations, said the idea to host an event at Oaklawn came from two Arkansas Tech graduates.
Bonds says the Arkansas Tech University Alumni Association is always looking for new ideas for alumni events, and she encourages alumni with an idea for an event to email alumni@atu.edu.
