A Night of Jazz and Belews on Thursday

Arkansas Tech University alumnus Cody Belew, as seen on NBC’s “The Voice,” is coming back to his alma mater for a concert on Thursday, Nov. 13. The show, entitled “A Night of Jazz and Belews,” will feature Belew performing with the Arkansas Tech Jazz Ensemble for a 7:30 p.m. concert at Witherspoon Auditorium. Tickets will be $10 for those with a valid Arkansas Tech identification card and $15 for the general public. They may be purchased at the door or in advance by contacting a member of the Arkansas Tech Jazz Ensemble or Sigma Pi fraternity, which is presenting and producing the concert. A graduate of Beebe High School, Belew earned a vocal performance scholarship to Arkansas Tech and performed with the Concert Chorale, Chamber Choir and the Music Theatre Workshop during his days as a student in Russellville. He graduated from Arkansas Tech in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music. Belew went on to perform at a variety of venues around the state of Arkansas before moving to Nashville, Tenn., to pursue his career as a recording and touring artist. His break arrived in 2012 when Belew was invited to audition for “The Voice.” Later that year, more than 10 million viewers per week watched Belew advance to reach the top eight of the singing competition during its fall 2012 season. Belew’s debut album, “What You’re Looking For,” was released in September 2013. It is available on iTunes.
