Victory, Morris Earn Regional Journalism Awards

Arkansas Tech University students Nikki Victory of Mayflower and Kelsey Morris of Alma earned on-site competition awards at the 2026 Southeast Journalism Conference, which was hosted by Georgia Highlands College in Cartersville, Ga., Feb. 5-7.

Victory, a junior business management and digital marketing major, earned third place in infographics design.

Morris, a junior communication and journalism major, captured an honorable mention prize in feature photography.

They were joined at the conference by fellow ATU students Manuel Desiderio of Hot Springs, Caden Houser of England, Alice Regalado of Warren and Emily Tyler of Searcy.

The Arkansas Tech delegation was led by Tommy Mumert, ATU assistant professor of journalism and advisor for the Arka Tech student newspaper.

This year marked the 39th Southeast Journalism Conference. ATU students have been attending the event since 2012.
