ANO Donates $5,000 to ATU Women in STEM Group

Donation to ATU Women in STEM 12-4-2025
Representatives from Arkansas Nuclear One and Arkansas Tech University gathered in the Corley Hall lobby on Thursday, Dec. 4, to celebrate a $5,000 donation from ANO to the ATU Women in STEM registered student organization.

Arkansas Nuclear One presented a $5,000 donation to the Arkansas Tech University Women in STEM registered student organization on Thursday, Dec. 4.

According to its web presence, the ATU Women in STEM organization is “committed to empowering students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics” with a goal of fostering “academic and professional growth by connecting members with research opportunities, internships, mentorship, volunteer work and community outreach.”

ATU Women in STEM members and Arkansas Tech students Kaitlin Edwards of Clarksville, Joy Skaggs of Russellville, Abigail Turnbull of Fort Smith and Katelyn Valdez of Salado, Texas, accepted the gift on behalf of their organization.

Arkansas Nuclear One was represented at the check presentation by three officers from the ANO chapter of the U.S. Women in Nuclear organization: Odessa Hedgecock, president; Laura McDaniel, vice president; and Krisie Reeves, metrics coordinator.

Also in attendance for the check presentation were Dr. Russell Jones, ATU president; Bryan Fisher, ATU vice president for advancement; Dr. John Jackson, dean of the ATU College of STEM; Dr. John Krohn, associate dean of the ATU College of STEM; Dr. Jeanine Myers, ATU professor of mathematics; and Dr. Jessica Young, ATU professor of physics.
