Learn How to Stay Safe During Active Threats Nov. 6

The Arkansas Tech University Department of Public Safety has scheduled a civilian response to active shooter events training that will be free and open to the public on Thursday, Nov. 6.

It will take place from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in Doc Bryan Student Services Center Lecture Hall, 1605 Coliseum Drive on the ATU campus in Russellville.

According to information provided by the ATU Department of Public Safety, the training is “built on the avoid, deny, defend strategy and focuses on developing situational awareness, making life-saving decisions and understanding how to react during an active threat event.”

Speakers will include Heath Whorton, ATU emergency manager, and officers from the ATU Department of Public Safety.
