
Kyleigh McCurnin and Oscar Perez were named 2025 Arkansas Tech University Homecoming queen and king during a pre-game ceremony at the Hull Building Student Union in Russellville on Saturday, Oct. 25.
McCurnin and Perez were elected by their fellow ATU students through online voting. Their coronation was moved indoors due to inclement weather.
Representing Zeta Tau Alpha, McCurnin is a senior nursing major from Rogers. She is the daughter of Brittany Halbert and Jonathan Halbert. In addition to serving as an officer for her sorority, McCurnin’s involvement at Arkansas Tech has included the ATU coed cheerleading team, Order of Omega, Greek programming board, orientation leader, Elevation College Ministry and more than 60 hours of community service.
Representing the Latinx Student Organization, Perez is a junior computer engineering and electrical engineering major from Warren. He is the son of Edmundo Perez and Cirila Perez. Perez is president of the ATU Latinx Student Organization and the ATU student chapter of the League of United Latin American Citizens. He is also an officer for Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and the ATU Interfraternity Council. Perez holds membership in Rotaract and ATU Geology Club, and he serves as a student worker in the ATU Department of Campus Life. He is also a peer mentor for the ATU minority mentorship program and a freshman orientation leader, and during the summer months he serves as a counselor in the ATU Upward Bound program.
McCurnin and Perez were joined on the 2025 ATU Homecoming court by Corbin Bowlin of Prairie Grove, Morgen Burgess of Shirley, Hannah Melton of Clarksville, Mason Moore of Blytheville, Destini Nguyen of Dardanelle, Lance Phillips of Altus, Cynsere Ryan of Conway and Jesse Wells of Sheridan.
