Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus has been awarded a $28,000 grant from the Arkansas Motor Vehicle Commission to enhance its automotive service technology and collision repair programs.

The funding will support updates to tools and equipment, allowing students to gain hands-on experience with the technologies and processes currently used in the automotive industry.

“At Arkansas Tech University–Ozark Campus, we are committed to delivering high-quality, hands-on training that prepares our students for today’s evolving automotive industry,” said Dr. Tina Smith, vice chancellor for academic affairs and workforce advancement. “This grant from the Arkansas Motor Vehicle Commission allows us to modernize our Collision Repair and Automotive Service Technology programs with cutting-edge tools and technology. With these resources, our students will graduate workforce-ready and well-equipped to meet the demands of the industry from day one.”

The grant funds, which were made available through Act 504 of the 93rd Arkansas General Assembly, are part of a statewide initiative to expand and modernize vehicle service and maintenance training.

“By investing in advanced diagnostic tools, digital estimating platforms, and real-time instructional technology, ATU-Ozark is helping bridge the gap between classroom learning and workplace expectations,” said Smith. “ATU-Ozark expresses its gratitude to the Arkansas Motor Vehicle Commission for supporting technical education and investing in the future of Arkansas’ skilled workforce.”
