Silva’s award marks the second consecutive year that an Arkansas Tech student-athlete has garnered one of the top awards in the GAC. In 2011-12, Arkansas Tech basketball player Johnie Davis was named GAC male athlete of the year. In addition to Silva, three other Arkansas Tech student-athletes were recognized at the 2013 GAC Night of Champions as finalists for league awards. Four-year women’s basketball letter winner Jessica Weatherford of Bonnerdale was among the nominees for GAC female scholar-athlete of the year, three-year men’s basketball letterman Jared Williamson of Russellville was nominated for GAC male scholar-athlete of the year and two-year baseball letterman Cesar Abreu of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, was among the nominees for GAC male athlete of the year.]]>
