Main Street Mission Benefits from WonderWeek

The 2012 WonderWeek committee recently met with Main Street Mission officials and turned over the donations collected in the Let’s Can Hunger Canned Food Sculpture competition.

After the non-perishable food items were weighed, the scale reached 3,250 pounds. This amount nearly doubled the amount collected in the 2011 competition.

A total of $141.36 was collected from the cash public voting system. This was the first year for the public to be able to vote by donation for their favorite sculpture.

Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) sponsors food drives for the Campbell’s Let’s Can Hunger program throughout the year. The group has been nationally recognized for their dedication to the community service project.

Campbell’s set a goal for Arkansas Tech SIFE to collect 5,000 pounds of food to donate to local food banks. The group has already collected 7,700 pounds, but SIFE officers say they hope to collect 10,000 pounds before the semester ends.

The 2012 WonderWeek Committee and SIFE thank student organizations for their benevolence and generosity to those in need.
