Accident Damages Wall at Alumni House

A one-vehicle accident on Tuesday, Sept. 20, caused damage to a portion of the decades-old rock wall that surrounds the Arkansas Tech University Alumni House.

At approximately 2 p.m., a white GMC truck (photographed) left Highway 7 and crashed into the wall on the east side of the Alumni House. No one inside the Alumni House was injured.

Photos from the Agricola yearbook show that portions of the rock wall around the Alumni House are as old as the structure itself. The Alumni House, which previously served as the president’s home before being converted into an office building, was constructed in 1935.

Representatives from the Russellville Police Department, the Russellville Fire Department, the Pope County Sheriff’s Office, Pope County EMS and the Arkansas Tech Office of Public Safety responded to Tuesday’s accident.
