Hudson, Doyle Sweep GSC Weekly Awards

Arkansas Tech claimed both of the Gulf South Conference West Division weekly softball awards when the league office announced those honors on Tuesday, March 29.

Freshman third baseman Hayley Hudson of Enid, Okla., was named GSC West player of the week and senior right-hander Alex Doyle of Carrollton, Texas, was named GSC West pitcher of the week.

They were recognized for their roles in the Golden Suns’ four-game sweep of then nationally seventh-ranked Arkansas-Monticello last weekend.

Hudson (photographed, left) went 6-for-16 with three home runs, seven runs batted in and six runs scored during the series.

Doyle (photographed, right) pitched in three games during the series. She tossed a six-hit shutout to earn the win in game two of Saturday’s doubleheader and worked three innings of scoreless relief to collect the save in game one on Sunday.

In all, Doyle allowed just two earned runs in 13 and two-thirds innings of work against the Cotton Blossoms.
