Meet Miss Tech: Brandi Cromer

Miss Tech has had her title for just over a month, and the hard work has already started to prepare for the Miss Arkansas pageant in July.

Brandi Cromer, crowned Miss Tech on Feb. 25, says she looks forward to the experience of competing in Miss Arkansas and meeting all of the other local titleholders.

“It’s not something everyone gets to do, so I’m excited to have the opportunity,” Cromer said.

Hailing from Lamar, Arkansas, Cromer is the first person from her small town to compete for the title of Miss Arkansas.

She says she most looks forward to the evening gown competition. She describes it as “relaxing and enjoyable.” Cromer, the winner of the Miss Tech swimsuit award, also adds, “more power to anyone who claims walking in five inch heels and a swimsuit is their favorite.”

Cromer has selected “Farm to Table” as her critical issue to promote throughout her reign as Miss Tech. It is an initiative to increase the demand for sustainable practices from local farms and consumers.

Growing up on a farm, Cromer learned the healthy benefits of having a locally sustainable food supply. Now she advocates the environmentally friendly lifestyle by working with local schools and grocery stores.

Dr. Jim Collins, executive director of the Miss Tech pageant, works closely with Brandi to prepare for the Miss Arkansas competition.

“It’s good to have Dr. Collins to push me along and help me accomplish my goals,” Cromer said.

Cromer is one of three Arkansas Tech students competing in the Miss Arkansas pageant. Joining her will be Savanna Knight, Miss Western Arkansas, and Lindsey Ahrens, Miss Ozark Highlands. Keep checking ArkansasTechNews.com for updates about their preparation.
