Arkansas Tech’s Laura Farney and Sarah Von Lienen provided the Golden Suns with a clean sweep of the weekly Gulf South Conference West Division volleyball honors announced on Tuesday afternoon by the league office.
Farney was named GSC West Division offensive player of the week, while Von Lienen earned the GSC West Division defensive player of the week award.
A junior outside hitter from Morton, Ill., Farney recorded 62 kills and three double-doubles over the past week for the Golden Suns. She also had 10 blocks and 49 digs.
Von Lienen, a senior middle blocker from Lakeland, Tenn., notched 21 blocks over the seven-day period to garner the league’s weekly defensive honor. She also had 61 kills for the week.
The Golden Suns (8-3) will compete in the University of Alabama in Huntsville Country Inn and Suites Tournament in Huntsville, Ala., this Friday and Saturday.
