Tech Faculty Return to Campus

Dr. Robert C. Brown, Tech president, welcomed Arkansas Tech faculty back to campus for the general faculty meeting Thursday morning in the Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center.

The annual meeting marks the start of the 101st session at Arkansas Tech University.

During the session, Dr. Brown addressed faculty and reminded them Arkansas Tech has an obligation to help students in the state obtain the lifelong benefits that come from achieving a college degree.

Brown reminded faculty of the challenges facing the state and the university in the current economic climate, but he encouraged faculty to “work together to overcome these obstacles.”

He added, “We’ve always said we prefer a future that we plan, and we must continue that in order to be successful.  I have no doubt that we can and will all work for the common good of our students, which is the reason we do all that we do.”

In addition to Dr. Brown’s address, Amy Pennington, director of the International and Multicultural Student Services Office; Shauna Donnell, assistant vice president of enrollment management; and Mary Gunter, dean of the Graduate College addressed faculty members about some of the new students who will be attending Arkansas Tech this fall.

Classes on both the Russellville Campus and Ozark Campus begin on Wednesday, August 25.
