Derick Ray McKinney of Greenwood has been selected as one of 36 representatives from Arkansas Tech University in the 2012 edition of “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.”
McKinney has served as an officer for the Presidential Leadership Cabinet, Student Government Association (SGA), the Volunteer Action Council, the Public Relations Student Society of America, Wesley Foundation and Baptist Collegiate Ministry during his time at Arkansas Tech.
The 2008-09 SGA senator of the year, McKinney has chaired blood drive and Homecoming committees on behalf of student government. He was selected Mr. Tech during the 2010-11 academic year and he participated in the Tech Idol singing competition in 2009 and 2010.
McKinney has also been involved with the Arka Tech student newspaper, KXRJ 91.9 FM, the Tech student television station, the choral program and the Student Activities Board during his time at Arkansas Tech.
Son of Darrell McKinney and the late Gina McKinney of Greenwood, McKinney will graduate from Arkansas Tech in May with a degree in journalism.
