NSCS at ATU Achieves Bronze Star Status

Arkansas Tech University’s chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) has earned the bronze star award for the 2017-18 academic year.

“The achievement of bronze star status is no easy feat and distinguishes the chapter among more than 320 chapters throughout the country,” said Mitchell Altman, public relations coordinator for NSCS at a national level. “All bronze star chapters were leaders in implementing engaging, student-centered events on their campus and in their local community, including a new member induction ceremony, integrity week and PACE, or Planning to Achieve Collegiate Success. The chapter has truly proven their commitment to the ideals that NSCS holds dear. Their exceptional work is not only a credit to them as a chapter, but as students of ATU as well.”

The NSCS chapter at ATU has been active since 2006. Dr. Gabriel Adkins, associate professor of communication, serves as chapter advisor.

NSCS is an ACHS-certified, non-profit honors organization that recognizes high-achieving undergraduates who excel academically during their first and second years of college. With its three pillars of scholarship, leadership and service, NSCS provides career and graduate school connections, leadership and service opportunities and disburses more than $1 million in scholarships, awards and chapter funds annually.
