External Grant Funding on the Rise at ATU

Increased participation by faculty and staff has yielded growth in the amount of external grant funding for Arkansas Tech University.

The ATU Office of Sponsored Programs and University Initiatives reports that the institution received $5,625,741 in external grant funding during the 2016-17 fiscal year, an increase of 3.8 percent over the previous year. A total of 44 ATU faculty and staff members received awards as the project director or principal investigator for a grant proposal in 2016-17. That figure was 32 ATU faculty and staff in 2015-16.

In the last two years, ATU has received just over $11 million in external grant funding to support research and collaboration projects by students, faculty and staff.

According to its mission statement, the ATU Office of Sponsored Programs and University Initiatives “is dedicated to promoting collaborations that stimulate academic and economic innovation while enhancing diverse partnerships within the university, community and beyond.”
