The Arkansas Tech University Department of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service will host a SKYWARN storm spotter training class on Thursday, April 26.
The class, which is open and free to the public, will be offered from 6-8 p.m. in the W.O. Young Building Ballroom, 207 West Q Street in Russellville.
The training is taught by representatives from the National Weather Service. Information shared during the class will equip members of the public to submit severe weather reports to the National Weather Service as part of the Weather-Ready Nation initiative of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Those completing the training will receive storm spotter certification and their reports will be used to assist National Weather Service personnel during times of extreme weather.
