Tech Wins 5th GAC All-Sports Trophy

Arkansas Tech University is home to the top intercollegiate athletics program in the Great American Conference for a fifth consecutive year.

The 2015-16 GAC All-Sports Trophy was awarded to Arkansas Tech on Tuesday, June 21. Tech has won the award for each of the five years that the GAC has existed.

Schools earned points toward the GAC All-Sports Trophy based upon their finish in all sports that are sponsored by six or more member institutions.

The regular season standings determined the points in sports with a round-robin schedule. The conference championship event determined the points in sports without a regular season format (women’s cross country, men’s golf and women’s golf).

Tech accumulated 81 points through its 2015-16 conference finishes in 10 sports — baseball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, women’s cross country, football, men’s golf, women’s golf, softball, women’s tennis and volleyball.

Regular season GAC titles in volleyball, women’s basketball, women’s golf and softball helped lift Arkansas Tech to the trophy.

Harding University (2nd, 79 points), Southwestern Oklahoma State University (3rd, 74.5 points), Southern Arkansas University (4th, 70.5 points), Henderson State University (5th, 61 points), East Central University (6th, 60 points), Southeastern Oklahoma State University (7th, 56 points), Southern Nazarene University (8th, 50 points), the University of Arkansas-Monticello (T-9th, 38 points), Ouachita Baptist University (T-9th, 38 points) and Northwestern Oklahoma State University (11th, 24 points) completed the 2015-16 GAC All-Sports Trophy standings.
