Suns Remain Among Ranks of Undefeated

Arkansas Tech University extended its season-opening winning streak to 24 consecutive volleyball matches by defeating Northwestern Oklahoma State University 25-18, 25-19, 25-21 at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Suns (24-0 overall, 9-0 Great American Conference) notched 49 kills on 110 total attempts while committing 13 attack errors for a team hitting percentage of .327.

There are 283 volleyball teams competing at the NCAA Division II level in 2017. Of those, only four — ATU, California Baptist University, Palm Beach Atlantic University and Wingate University — remain undefeated.

Allie Anderson collected 13 kills and Lexie Johnston made 10 kills in Tech’s win over Northwestern Oklahoma State. Amanda Milnick distributed 41 assists. Hunter Eshnaur had nine kills and 12 digs, while Madison Nagel notched 21 digs.

The Golden Suns will visit Oklahoma Baptist University for a 7 p.m. GAC match in Shawnee, Okla., on Thursday, Oct. 19.
