An exhibit entitled “Trout Street” by Holly Laws is on display at Arkansas Tech University’s Norman Hall Art Gallery through Friday, Sept. 18.
An opening reception is scheduled for 4-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, in the gallery.
Admission to the exhibit and the reception will be free and open to the public.
Norman Hall Art Gallery is located at 203 West Q Street on the ATU campus in Russellville and is open weekdays (excluding holidays) from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Laws is associate professor in the University of Central Arkansas Department of Art and Design. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University.
“My parents grew old together in a house on Trout Street,” wrote Laws in an artist’s statement posted in Norman Hall Art Gallery. “Following their deaths, the address transformed from a place on a map into a landscape of memory and absence. Named in their honor, “Trout Street” is an invitation to consider our shared human relationship with loss. It asks how we hold onto those who once inhabited our worlds, how memories crystallize over time and how we find ways to endure after profound change.”
The season-opening “Trout Street” is the first of four exhibits planned at Norman Hall Art Gallery during the fall 2026 semester. The ATU Faculty Biennial exhibition (Sept. 28-Oct. 23), the 20th annual ATU Juried Student Competitive exhibition (Nov. 2-13) and the art education senior exhibition (Nov. 30-Dec. 11) will complete the schedule.
