David Mudrinich, professor emeritus of art at Arkansas Tech University, will display a collection of his works for the first exhibition of the 2022-23 academic year at ATU’s Norman Hall Art Gallery.
The show, entitled “Something Old, Something New: A Retrospective,” will be open weekdays (excluding Labor Day) Aug. 15-Sept. 16 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
A gallery talk and reception is planned for 2:30-3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1. Admission to the exhibit and the reception is free and open to the public. Norman Hall Art Gallery is located at 203 West Q Street in Russellville.
“These works represent nearly 50 years of observing the different regions where I have lived,” wrote Mudrinich in a portion of his artist’s statement for the show. “They begin in western Pennsylvania where I grew up, then follow my migration into Georgia and eventually lead to Arkansas, where I taught for more than 22 years at ATU and continue to reside as an artist today. A common thread through all these times and locations was that I always had to be outdoors.”
Mudrinich holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Georgia. He was a member of the ATU faculty from 1998-2020 and was honored with the ATU Faculty Award of Excellence in the scholarship category (2005) and the teaching category (2012).
The ATU Board of Trustees bestowed professor emeritus status upon Mudrinich on June 16, 2022.
Subsequent exhibits on the Norman Hall Art Gallery fall 2022 semester schedule include the ATU Art Faculty Biennial (Sept. 21-Oct. 21) and the ATU Juried Student Competitive (Nov. 1-29).
