The National Weather Service has notified the public that severe thunderstorms are possible in Arkansas during the late afternoon, evening and overnight hours on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

The advisory indicates the region including the Arkansas Tech University campus in Russellville is under a slight risk for severe weather, while ATU-Ozark Campus is under an enhanced risk for severe weather. Damaging straight-line winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes are among the threats with this system. A tornado watch is in effect.

The ATU Department of Public Safety will make the McEver Hall pit classrooms and the Hull Physical Education Building single gymnasium available to the ATU community as shelter locations in case of severe weather on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

If the severe weather leads to any building issues (including leaks in any ATU facilities), those who discover the issues are asked to contact the ATU Office of Facilities Management at (479) 968-0261 for assistance.
