Dr. Adolfo Santos, Arkansas Tech University executive vice president for academic affairs and provost, has announced the appointment of Alexis Scrimshire as registrar at Arkansas Tech.
Scrimshire has been a member of the ATU Office of the Registrar staff since she was hired as a registrar’s assistant in August 2012. She has earned promotions to the ranks of assistant registrar and associate registrar while serving for the past 14 years under the leadership of Tammy Weaver, who retired as ATU registrar on July 6 after 42 years of service to Arkansas Tech.
“I am so grateful and excited for the opportunity to serve as registrar,” said Scrimshire. “As a student who had no idea what the Office of the Registrar really was, I went to the office at a crossroads, and the ladies at the front desk took time to talk to me and help me. Since then, this university and its people, have given me so much, both personally and professionally. I am thankful to have this special opportunity to continue to give back to Tech in this way.”
Scrimshire graduated from Arkansas Tech with an Associate of Arts degree in criminal justice, a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science and Master of Science degrees in college student personnel and information technology. She received the 2026 ATU service award from ATU Staff Senate in recognition of distinctive service through committees, special events, the implementation of creative ideas and/or support and encouragement of others.
“I want our team to be known for putting people first,” said Scrimshire, who completed the Leadership Tech professional development program in 2026. “Our office has many non-negotiable policies and procedures we are entrusted to enforce, and I want us to get those right, too…but we can ensure we keep people the center of every interaction so they leave feeling heard, respected and supported.”
