After a two-year hiatus, the in-person Arkansas Tech University Out of the Darkness suicide prevention walk is coming back in 2022.

The event, which was converted to a virtual walk in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will return on Saturday, April 9, beginning with check-in at 9 a.m. and the walk at 10 a.m. Online registration is open at www.afsp.org/atu.

Over the course of six years from 2014-19, the in-person ATU Out of the Darkness suicide prevention walk raised $106,077.

Data from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) shows that suicide is one of the two leading causes of death among Arkansans age 10-34 and that Arkansas exceeds the national average for deaths by suicide per 100,000 residents.
