The Arkansas Tech University College of Research and Graduate Studies is kicking off a new community learning series entitled Pints and Professors.
Described in information provided by the college as “where education meets conversation…over a pint,” Pints and Professors will include a 30-minute talk followed by open discussion with a goal of making ATU research and innovation accessible, conversational and community-focused.
The series will begin at Point Remove at Central Fire Station in Russellville Downtown on Tuesday, Nov. 11, with a 6 p.m. session featuring Dr. Julie Mikles-Schluterman, director of the new ATU Center for Community Engagement and Academic Outreach.
Mikles-Schluterman will discuss how the center is strengthening connections between ATU and the surrounding community through service, collaboration and innovative engagement opportunities.
“At ATU’s Center for Community Engagement and Academic Outreach, our goal is to connect the university’s talent and energy with real community needs, that in turn enriches our students’ educational experiences,” said Mikles-Schluterman. “Through initiatives like AR-NETWORK, we’re expanding those connections statewide.”
Dr. Michael Bradley, dean of the ATU College of Research and Graduate Studies, explained that Pints and Professors is aligned with Arkansas Tech’s mission to promote lifelong learning and highlight how scholarship extends beyond the classroom.
