“Picture Studies” Concert Scheduled for Sunday

Arkansas Tech University’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble will present an afternoon of musical and visual entertainment at Witherspoon Auditorium on Sunday, March 6.

The concert, entitled “Picture Studies,” will begin at 2:30 p.m. Admission will be free and open to the public.

The show will include special photo, video and lighting accompaniment produced by Dr. TJ Perry, ATU assistant professor of music.

Pieces scheduled for performance include “Picture Studies” by Adam Schoenberg and an original suite of selections from the “Star Wars” films. The suite will include arrangements of John Williams’ music by Don Hunsberger and Paul Lavender.

Dr. Daniel A. Belongia, ATU professor of music and director of bands, is conductor of the ATU Symphonic Wind Ensemble.

Comprised almost completely of music majors, but open to students of any major by audition, the ATU Symphonic Wind Ensemble is described on its web page as a performance group “for the most serious wind performer and music student.”
