New Online Arkansas Tech Calendar Debuts

Arkansas Tech University Campus Entrance Russellville

Arkansas Tech University has created a new online calendar designed to inform its internal and external audiences about on-campus events of general interest.

The calendar, which is viewable at www.atu.edu/calendar, lists events that are open to the public and provides easy access to important dates relative to the semester-by-semester academic calendar.

The launch of the new ATU online calendar is the culmination of a process that was initiated by a communication working group consisting of Arkansas Tech faculty and staff.

The working group was established by Dr. Robin E. Bowen, ATU president, and chaired by Dr. Mary B. Gunter, chief of staff in the ATU Office of the President. The group was assembled to identify and address opportunities for improved communication at Arkansas Tech.

“Our goal is for this calendar to be a resource anyone with an affinity for Arkansas Tech University can visit to learn what is happening and how they can get involved,” said Sam Strasner, director of university relations at ATU. “I would encourage members of the ATU community to be frequent visitors to the calendar. It will be updated on a regular and ongoing basis as plans for upcoming events come into focus. I hope the new online calendar will make us even more connected as a university community.”

Events that are designed solely for current ATU students will continue to be listed on theLink at https://atu.presence.io.

Additional online resources for news and information about Arkansas Tech events and activities include www.arkansastechnews.com and www.arkansastechsports.com.

“This calendar is more customizable than ones we have offered in the past,” said Strasner. “This strength is highlighted by the ability to choose a list view or a calendar view by clicking on icons in the top right-hand corner of the online calendar. Within the calendar option, end users may select to view events on a monthly, weekly or daily basis. I would encourage users to invest a few moments finding the view that is best for them and their preferences.”

Members of the university community who wish to submit ATU events of general interest for the calendar may do so by sending e-mail to sstrasner@atu.edu. Details that should be communicated include the date, time and location of the event as well as any additional information that might provide helpful context for calendar users.
