Main Street Russellville and the Russellville Tourism and Visitor’s Center are beginning the countdown to the 2024 total solar eclipse by hosting an event entitled “Music and Moon Pies” at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at Depot Park in Russellville Downtown.
The festivities will be highlighted by an attempt to establish a new state record for most Moon Pies eaten. There will also be live music from Goodluck Slim and Thunder Mountain. Admission will be free and open to the public.
Saturday marks exactly one year until the total solar eclipse of April 8, 2024, during which the City of Russellville will be in the path of totality for more than four minutes. The 2024 total solar eclipse is forecast to be the largest tourism event in Arkansas history.
