Dr. Bill Morelan, educational leadership program director in the Arkansas Tech University Department of Teaching and Educational Leadership, has worked with academic quality assurance provider Quality Matters (QM) to earn QM certification for the ATU course Working with the Marginal Performer (EDLD 6403).
According to the ATU catalog, the course “focuses on identifying and addressing the characteristics of marginal performance in teachers” and “includes an in-depth study of the Arkansas teacher evaluation system.”
As part of the QM certification process, the course was reviewed utilizing the Quality Matters rubric and associated standards.
According to its website, Quality Matters has provided online course design standards training to more than 60,000 education professionals and certified thousands of online and blended courses. QM states that it has worked with more than 1,500 colleges and universities around the world.
Morelan, ATU associate professor of educational leadership, said his goal is to attain QM certification for all courses in the Arkansas Tech educational leadership program.
A member of the ATU faculty since 2019, Morelan holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Southwestern Adventist University as well as Master of Arts in Teaching and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Andrews University.
