Dr. Jamie Stacy, director of the Arkansas Tech University Honors program, reports that 105 students are engaged in the ATU Honors program during the fall 2025 semester.

The group includes 24 seniors, 40 juniors, 16 sophomores and 25 freshmen. Twenty-three of the 105 ATU Honors students are first-generation college students.

According to information published to the ATU Honors website, the program is “dedicated to academic excellence, intellectual growth and personal development” and is “designed to elevate the college experience through small, discussion-based classes that promote meaningful interactions with peers and faculty.”

Applicants to the ATU Honors program must have a minimum high school cumulative grade point average of 3.5 and a minimum ACT composite score of 27 (or equivalent SAT score).

“Honors students benefit from a unique curriculum tailored to their abilities, including opportunities for interdisciplinary studies, peer mentorship, community service and individualized research projects,” reads a portion of the ATU Honors website. “With a focus on critical thinking, curiosity and innovation, the ATU Honors program prepares students not only for success during their university years but also for a lifetime of achievement and impact.”

Stacy, associate professor of emergency management and homeland security, is joined on the ATU Honors program faculty by Dr. Peter Dykema, professor of history; Dr. Paola Gemme, professor of English; Dr. Emily Hoffman, professor of English; Dr. Kelly Jones, associate professor of history; Dr. Sangki Lee, professor of journalism; Dr. Jeff Mitchell, professor of philosophy; Dr. Phoebe Robertson, assistant professor of music; and Dr. Wan Wei, associate professor of economics.
