The HERS Leadership Institute was founded in 1972. According to information provided by the HERS organization, the institute “is a transformational leadership development program for higher education professionals” that is designed to fill “leadership pipelines across the United States with dynamic leaders.”

The 2026 HERS Leadership Institute is planned for July 14-23 at Colorado School of the Mines in Golden, Colo.

“I hope my experience with the HERS Leadership Institute will help me continue to grow as a collaborative, strategic leader at Arkansas Tech,” said Mikles-Schluterman. “In my roles with the Center for Community Engagement and Academic Outreach and the AR-NETWORK initiative, I am working to strengthen relationships between our campus, industry partners and community organizations. HERS will help me develop the leadership skills needed to build sustainable partnerships, support institutional change and contribute more fully to the future of higher education in Arkansas.”
