Travis Simpson will appear as guest speaker for the RPL Author Series at Arkansas Tech University on Thursday, April 23.
Simpson will offer remarks beginning at 6 p.m. in room 300B of Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center, 305 West Q Street on the ATU campus in Russellville. Admission will be free and open to the public.
Author of “Strong Like You” and “Cope Field,” Simpson is an award-winning journalist and editor of the Russellville newspaper, The Courier. He invested a decade in covering high school and collegiate sports before moving to the editor’s chair.
Simpson’s journalistic pursuits have included crime reporting, and several of his stories have appeared on the Associated Press wire. His semi-regular slice-of-life column has been published nationally.
“Cope Field” was selected as a 2026 Michael L. Printz Honor Book by the American Library Association.
Dog Ear Books will be present for Simpson’s lecture on April 23. A free signed copy of “Cope Field” will be presented to the winner of a drawing held in conjunction with the event.
