Jazz Ensemble Takes the Stage Thursday Night

The Arkansas Tech University Jazz Ensemble will offer a concert at Witherspoon Auditorium in Russellville on Thursday, Sept. 28.

The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission will be free and open to the public.

Dr. Sean Reed, ATU associate professor of music, serves as director for the ATU Jazz Ensemble. Members include Kurt Penka, Luke Sande, Matthew Shirey, Brandon Williams and Esai Zesati (saxophone); Adalyn Barnes, Kris Campbell, Jake Hodges and Hayden Judy (trumpet); Josh Carman, Lorenzo Castellano-Chavez, Gabe Graff, Blake Mitchell and Dawson Schalk (trombone); Holten Friend, Caleb Hopkins, Blake Hudson, Marlon King, Austin Stokes, Jesse Wells and Brad Wills (rhythm section).

The program for Thursday’s concert includes “Loop 360” by Rick Lawn, “Pepper” by Lennie Niehaus, “Riverscape” by Fred Sturm, “Bossa Braziliana” by Paul Baker, “Cheesecake” by Dexter Gordon as arranged by Russell Scarbrough and “Act Your Age” by Gordon Goodwin.
