Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus remembers Jody Chrisman, who departed this life on Friday, Sept. 5, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication.

Chrisman began his teaching career in 1987 and taught at ATU-Ozark for 36 years. He worked alongside his faculty colleague, Ron Hutain, and played a key role in developing the ATU-Ozark automation technology program.

“Jody was an educator and practitioner whose depth of knowledge was matched by his willingness to share the knowledge,” said Dr. Sheila Jacobs, ATU-Ozark chancellor. “He was instrumental in building ATU-Ozark’s automation technology program from the ground up, shaping it into a strong, hands-on learning environment that prepares students for real-world success. His legacy will live on not only in the curriculum he helped create, but in the confidence and skill he instilled in countless students over his 36 years of service.”

Stacey McCollough, current ATU-Ozark automation program chair, and Cody Harkness, ATU-Ozark automation instructor, both had the privilege of learning from Chrisman.

“Jody was an excellent instructor dedicated to bringing real-world industrial experience and application into the classroom,” said McCullough. “He was committed to moving theory into practice and placed a heavy emphasis on troubleshooting. Jody definitely left a legacy and will be missed.”

Chrisman retired from ATU-Ozark in June 2023 as a workforce education master instructor in industrial control systems.
