Arkansas Tech University faculty members Dr. Christopher Housenick and Dr. David J. Eshelman were the featured speakers at the February 2026 edition of Pints and Professors in Russellville Downtown.

Held at Point Remove Brewing Company, Pints and Professors is organized by the ATU College of Research and Graduate Studies as one aspect of its endeavors to highlight faculty scholarship, support graduate education and foster meaningful engagement between ATU and the Russellville community.

Housenick, ATU assistant professor of political science, provided a presentation on the history, policy landscape and future of gambling in Arkansas.

Eshelman, ATU professor of communication, spoke about Arkansas Radio Theatre, which he founded under the auspices of the ATU Department of Communication and Media Studies in 2007 and has directed ever since. He also serves as head of the ATU Department of Communication and Media Studies.

“This event reflects what a public university should be doing,” said Dr. Michael Bradley, dean of the ATU College of Research and Graduate Studies. “When faculty share their expertise in accessible spaces like this, it strengthens the bond between campus and community. We are embedded in Russellville, and Pints and Professors shows how scholarship and public dialogue can come together in meaningful ways.”

The event drew a diverse audience of students, faculty, staff, administrators and community leaders, including Russellville Mayor Fred Teague and members of the Russellville City Council.

Presley Burgess, graduate assistant in the ATU College of Research and Graduate Studies, coordinated and hosted the February 2026 Pints and Professors event.

The next Pints and Professors gathering is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at Point Remove Brewing Company in Russellville.
