Neal Harrington, Arkansas Tech University professor of art, was recognized as ATU faculty member of the month by ATU Faculty Senate on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
The honor is based upon Harrington’s selection to create a permanent art installation at Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock.
The installation, “Arkansas As Home,” was unveiled during a ceremony at the airport on Oct. 23.
“Arkansas As Home” is on display in the pre-security lobby on the second floor of Clinton National Airport near the stairs and escalator that travelers utilize to enter and exit the terminal.
The work consists of three 3.5-foot-by-6-foot birch wood carved panels. The panels are entitled “Homegrown,” which depicts the mountainous regions of the Ouachitas and the Ozarks; “Down Home,” which features the wetland regions of the state; and “Home Sweet Home,” which tells a story from the delta region of east and southeast Arkansas.
Harrington’s proposal to create “Arkansas As Home” was selected by the Clinton National Airport art advisory committee from a field of 49 submissions.
Harrington has served on the Arkansas Tech faculty since 2001.
The ATU faculty member of the month program is a new initiative introduced by Dr. Michael Rogers, who is serving as chair of ATU Faculty Senate during the 2025-26 academic year.
