Grainger Pieces Bookend Brass Choir’s Tuesday Concert

Witherspoon Hall is home to the Arkansas Tech University Department of Music.

The Arkansas Tech University Brass Choir will offer a concert at Witherspoon Auditorium in Russellville at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28.

The program includes “Duke of Marlborough Fanfare” by Percy Aldridge Grainger, “Quintet” by Michael Kamen, “Deep River” as arranged by Anthony O’ Toole, “October” by Eric Whitacre (as arranged by David J. Miller) and “Handel in the Strand” by Grainger (as arranged by Brick Wasson).

Dr. TJ Perry, ATU associate professor of music, serves as conductor for the ATU Brass Choir. Brendan Frazier of Denison, Texas, will appear as student conductor on the group’s performance of Kamen’s “Quintet.”

Members of the ATU Brass Choir for spring 2023 are Sanders Hilburn, Noah Pifer, Brayden Davis, Isaac Mays and Adalyn Barnes on trumpet; Aaron Mack, Eliza Smith, Dalton McPherson and Jimmy Rhine on horn; Frazier, Dawson Schalk, John-Carl Laidler, Macy Jamell and Donald McBride on trombone; Preston Keeter on euphonium; and Sean Perdue on tuba.
