Gonzalez, Thomas Named 2023 Homecoming Royalty

Diana Gonzalez and Jae Thomas were named 2023 Arkansas Tech University Homecoming queen and king during a pre-game ceremony at Simmons Bank Field at Thone Stadium in Russellville on Saturday, Nov. 4.

Gonzalez, a senior from Fort Smith, and Thomas, a junior from Bryant, were elected by their fellow ATU students through online voting.

Treasurer for the ATU League of United Latin American Citizens club, Gonzalez is also a member of Phi Mu, the Student Nurses Association and the Latin Student Organization. She has served her fellow students as an orientation leader.

Gonzalez is the daughter of Antonio Gonzalez and Aracelie Gonzalez. She is majoring in nursing and plans on returning to her hometown of Fort Smith to serve as a labor and delivery nurse at Mercy Hospital following her graduation from ATU.

Thomas is vice president of operations for ATU Student Activities Board and an executive board member for the Black Student Association. He is social media coordinator for the ATU Department of Campus Life and the Hull Building Student Union. He has also served ATU as a member of the student union and recreation center task force and as an orientation leader.

A biology biomedical major, Thomas plans on pursuing further education in preparation for a career as a physician assistant following his graduation from Arkansas Tech. He is the son of Johnna Thomas.

Gonzalez and Thomas were joined on the 2023 ATU Homecoming court by Breckyn Ballard of Pottsville, Nathan Brown of Benton, Allicen Fight of Van Buren, Madalyn Hogan of Pocahontas, Caleb Hopkins of Fort Smith, Braden Jones of Warren, Deon Simmons of Mayflower and Madison Starks of Bigelow.
