Eclipse Provides Research Opportunity for Students

Student eclipse researchers gathered at Arkansas Tech University's Doc Bryan Student Services Center for a meeting on Thursday, April 4.

Eighteen Arkansas Tech University students are participating in eclipse-related research led by members of the ATU faculty.

The student eclipse researchers had an opportunity to meet with representatives from NASA on Thursday, April 4, to discuss any possible improvements to their research and the possible outcomes.

Dr. Doug Barron, ATU associate professor of wildlife science, and Misty Barron, ATU lecturer of biology, organized student researchers from the ATU Department of Biological Sciences.

Additional ATU faculty members who served as mentors on the research projects included Dr. Matthew Hankins, assistant professor of physics; Dr. Amber Harrington, associate professor of physics; and Dr. Chris Kellner, professor of wildlife science.

Leif Anderson and Matt Anderson from the U.S. Forest Service also contributed to the effort.
