Capt. Tammy Dougan will serve as interim chief for the Arkansas Tech University Department of Public Safety beginning Wednesday, July 1.
Dougan holds the ranks of assistant chief and field operations division commander in the ATU Department of Public Safety. She has been a member of the department since February 2016. She is also a first sergeant in the Arkansas Army National Guard.
Her previous experience includes work as a patrol officer for the Russellville Police Department, as a patrol officer and emergency dispatcher for the Paragould Police Department and as an emergency dispatcher for Pope County 911.

Dougan is a respected and dedicated law enforcement officer who is well prepared to provide leadership for the ATU Department of Public Safety,” said Amy Pennington, ATU vice president for student affairs. “I am appreciative of her willingness to serve in this capacity and ensure that the ATU Department of Public Safety continues to fulfill its essential role of facilitating a safe and welcoming campus environment for our students, faculty, staff and guests.”
Dougan holds a Master of Science degree in emergency management and homeland security from ATU, a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice and legal studies from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and an Associate of Applied Sciences degree in criminal justice from Black River Technical College.
She is a certified Clery compliance officer through the National Association of Clery Compliance Officers and Professionals.
Dougan will succeed Joshua McMillian, who is resigning as chief of the ATU Department of Public Safety effective Tuesday, June 30. McMillian has served in that capacity since March 15, 2012.
