Arkansas Tech University is collaborating with other institutions of higher learning around the Natural State to sponsor a virtual book presentation by Dr. Sarah Cavanagh from 2-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
Cavanagh is the author of “Mind Over Monsters,” which was published in 2023 by Beacon Press. The publisher describes the book as “an investigation into the mental health crisis affecting young adults today, and an impassioned argument for creating learning environments characterized both by compassion and challenge.”
ATU is joined by the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, the University of Central Arkansas and Northwest Arkansas Community College in making the presentation available as a resource for its faculty, its staff and other interested parties.
Registration for the presentation is available at https://uca-edu.zoom.us/meeting/register/1_5EsaNBRFWCDW6RJ_N4Fw#/registration.
Cavanagh is the senior associate director for teaching and learning at the Simmons University Center for Faculty Excellence and an associate professor of practice in psychology at Simmons University. Her research considers whether the strategies people choose to regulate their emotions and the degree to which they successfully accomplish this regulation can predict trajectories of psychological functioning over time.
