Belongia, Clements Win 2020 Homecoming Golf Classic

Dan Belongia and Jon Clements fired a 9-under par round of 63 on Friday, Oct. 2, to win the championship flight in the 2020 Arkansas Tech University Homecoming Golf Classic at Chamberlyne Country Club in Danville.

The tournament was conducted as a two-person scramble with tee times in order to promote social distancing due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Steve Barker and Philip Gray shot 68 to claim runner-up honors, while the teams of Jim Dunn and David Sacrey and Ian Bryan and John Fletcher shared third place with matching rounds of 69.

First place in the first flight went to Daniel Trowbridge and Jeremy Rogers. They shot 1-over 73 and won a card-off with Nick Bartmier and Chris Russell (2nd, 73). Glenn Parks and Ricky Williams finished third in the first flight with a round of 77.

First place in the senior division went to Ronnie Higgins and Bill Davis. They shot 5-under 67. Freddie Rood and Bob Taylor (2nd, 69), Sammy Hughes and David Rollans (T-3rd, 71) and Glenn Coleman and Kevin Coleman (T-3rd, 71) rounded out the top of the senior division.

A total of 23 teams competed in the tournament.

The ATU Homecoming Golf Classic raises funds for the ATU Alumni Association Scholarship.
