ATU Theatre Presents “True Tales of the Weird”

“True Tales of the Weird,” the spring 2026 production by the Arkansas Tech University theatre and film program, will be performed at the Techionery Theatre on Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7.

Show times are 7 p.m. both nights. Tickets will be available at the door. Techionery Theatre is located at 1502 N. El Paso Ave. on the ATU campus in Russellville.

The script for the ATU production of “True Tales of the Weird” was adapted by Dr. David J. Eshelman, head of the ATU Department of Communication and Media Studies and professor of communication, from a 1920 book of the same title by Sidney Dickinson. Dickinson wrote the book based upon his wife’s reports of encountering ghosts.

Cast members include Marcus Giles of Memphis, Tenn. (Mr. Dickinson), Alyssa Purifoy of El Dorado (Mrs. Dickinson), Zack Baldwin of Russellville (Professor Stetson), Raine Gordon of Little Rock (Mrs. Tubby), Addison Reagan-Smith of Little Rock (female apparition) and Charlie Randall of Harrison (male apparition).

Haley Sorg of Clinton is directing “True Tales of the Weird” at ATU. Sara Berglund, assistant technical director for the ATU theatre and film program, is technical director and Eshelman is fulfilling the responsibilities of producer.

Crew members include Taylor Wright of Bryant (stage manager), Kade Heffington of Damascus (assistant stage manager), Ben Langston of Farmington (lighting design), Alan Thao of Plainview (sound design), Jackson Jordon of Greenwood (props manager), Ekira Hernandez of Berryville (makeup design), B.J. Walton of Clarksville (costume design), Emma Guill of Hot Springs (publicity) and Reagan-Smith (set design).

Beyond the performances at ATU on March 6-7, Arkansas Tech theatre and film students will tour the production for performances at Clinton High School on Monday, March 9, and at Russellville High School on Tuesday, March 10.
