ATU Students Provide Aid for Local Women’s Shelter

ATU Gives to River Valley Shelter Fall 2021
Paper towels were among the in-need items donated by Arkansas Tech University sociology and criminal justice students to the River Valley Shelter for Battered Women and Children in fall 2021.

Sociology and criminal justice students at Arkansas Tech University gave of their time and energy to benefit the River Valley Shelter for Battered Women and Children during the fall 2021 semester.

Representatives from Alpha Kappa Delta, the national honor society for sociology students, and Alpha Phi Sigma, the national honor society for criminal justice students, collected and delivered 500 in-need items to the shelter and its residents. The community service project was completed in obervance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October.

Dr. Jason Ulsperger, ATU professor of sociology, assisted the groups in their efforts. He said Alpha Kappa Delta plans to continue donating to the River Valley Shelter for Battered Women and Children over the next year as part of a project entitled “Six Months for the Shelter.”
