Spring headcount enrollment at Arkansas Tech University is on the rise for the first time in five years.

There are 8,308 students enrolled at ATU for spring 2024. That is a 1.2 percent increase over spring 2023, when ATU enrolled 8,210 students. It is the first spring-to-spring enrollment increase at ATU since 2019.

Student semester credit hours (83,969 in spring 2024 as compared to 83,318 in spring 2023) and international student headcount enrollment (218 in spring 2024 as compared to 206 in spring 2023) are also up this semester at Arkansas Tech.

“The retention programs that our colleges and departments have implemented are helping more Arkansas Tech students persist in their studies and continue on the path to graduation,” said Dr. Russell Jones, ATU interim president. “This is a tribute to our faculty, our staff and their dedication to our students. We are turning a corner in our enrollment. As we continue to emphasize experiential learning opportunities such as study abroad and implement our ‘No Strings Attached’ approach to financial aid, we will attract more students who want an affordable learning environment where they feel supported and valued as individuals while attending a residential campus with the full college experience.”

ATU departments that demonstrated student semester credit hour (SSCH) increases among non-concurrent, undergraduate students from spring 2023 to spring 2024 included behavioral sciences, biological sciences, business, history and political science, military science, music, nursing and professional and community education.

ATU graduate programs that demonstrated SSCH increases from spring 2023 to spring 2024 included those housed in biological sciences, business, engineering and computing sciences, history and political science, nursing and professional and community education.
