“Out of all of the classes and institutions I have visited for my job, ATU-Ozark is one of the best,” said Colby Brewer, Arkansas Tech University–Ozark graduate.

Colby Brewer completed the emergency medical technician (EMT) program at Arkansas Tech University-Ozark in 2021. Since graduating, his career has included work in emergency response, film production settings and international assignments.

Most recently, Brewer served as an EMT firefighter at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in Antarctica through the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). In that role, he provided emergency medical and fire response services at the geographic South Pole.

“Antarctica was amazing,” Brewer said. “I met people from all walks of life and from all over the world.”

In addition to his emergency services work, Brewer has worked on film sets as an EMT firefighter. He has met numerous actors and is featured in the credits of productions including “Sovereign” and “American Airgunner” along with several smaller projects.

Brewer originally began his studies at ATU-Ozark in the computer information technology program before joining the fire department and transitioning to EMT.

“The program is amazing and instructor, Mark Maxwell, truly put me on the path that I am on today,” said Brewer.

Brewer said the training he received prepared him for the responsibilities he has taken on in his career.

“I recommend ATU-Ozark to anyone who wants to take the first step toward their future and feel good about the direction they’re headed,” he said.
