Arkansas Tech University students Echo Phelps and Kelsey McClain earned Arkansas Health Information Management Association scholarships during the organization’s 2026 state conference April 2-3 in Little Rock.
Phelps is a senior from Nashville, while McClain is a junior from Fort Smith.
Sara Daniel, ATU program director and assistant professor of health information management, said that ATU senior health information management students had the opportunity to attend the conference.
“The experience provided students with first-hand exposure to current trends, challenges and innovations shaping the future of health information management,” said Daniel. “Students also had the opportunity to participate in the organization’s annual business meeting and luncheon. Attending the conference inspired students as they prepared to transition from the academic setting to the workforce.”
Daniel and two of her ATU faculty colleagues, Tonya Mays and Dr. Melinda Wilkins, accompanied the Arkansas Tech students at the Arkansas Health Information Management Association meeting.
